Darling, I do!

B & I have decided to cut our guest list down to 50 or fewer people. How do I do this without pissing my mom and all of my distant relatives off?

See, mom took a hold of my list back a few months ago…and added 10 people from work, all of my great aunts and uncles (all of whom I haven’t seen in literally 3-4 years), a bunch of people from her church (our ceremony will just offend them, we’re not expressing any form of religiosity in it), and dad’s old friends from high school (the local fire chief and his second cousin/boss). This brought our list up well past 100 which was my “well I don’t really want this many people, but I’ll give a little” number. We originally only wanted 50ish. How we got this far…ugh. Just ugh.

Basically I want to cut anyone I haven’t seen in a couple of years (because they don’t need to be there anyway!) and all of her work friends. But how do I do this without royally pissing everyone and their mother (and mine) off?!

At this point I want to elope and call it good. Seriously.

I keep not wanting to email the photographer we had picked out because I just know there has got to...

I have another hopeful. I figure she’ll email me back sometime this week and hopefully she’s under $1200. Her work is fucking outstanding. This is probably bad news. :/

I also really want to take about 6 layers of tulle out of my dress now. :/ I have lost a little more oomph since I purchased it, and I still love it, but it’s way too damn big. :/

I guess I’ll have to see what Babs can do with it. >.< I knew this would happen.

Buddha, get me to March and down the alter, nothing else matters.

Wedding Invitations

I have filled 30 pocketfolds with 30 pretty little invitations. B cussed the whole time while trying to help.

I don’t have the finished yet though simply because a) I don’t want to cut more pieces for the mats behind the invitation and b) I haven’t quite decided how I am going to do the bellybands. I want to just sew the ends of the lace together with my machine, that would be easiest. But my sewing machine is 2,000 miles away at my apartment back home. I will not see said sewing machine until late August. :/ The other option is to hand stitch little two hole buttons onto the lace to hold it together. Which means I have to go buy buttons. And hand stitch. :/ I dunno where we’ll go.

When I decide, I’ll totally take pictures of the finished project.

My middle sister (I’m the oldest). She’ll be the one to tell me to shut the hell up when I get bitchy (because I will). Other than that she’ll just stand around, complain about the shoes, complain about the food, and complain about the music. But that’s what she’s good at. ;) (I love her anyway and I wouldn’t trade her for the world.)

Maid of Honor #2: Brianna
My baby sister. The only person willing to lick a thousand envelopes for me and even say “I could do this all day” as her tongue gets raw. She is a spoiled brat who gets her way in everything but that’s because she’s the baby. She so far has been willing to do anything I’ve asked of her and she picked out my dress.

Tori, I really do love you. Even if you are unwilling to do anything. :P

Bridesmaids: Kelley & Ellen
Kelley and I met our freshman year at college. We both needed a lab partner for Chemistry and we made fire and awkward conversation until one day we were friends. Now we complain about nursing school together and eat wayyyy too much fast food whilst complaining.
Ellen and I have been really good friends since 8th grade. We lived together sophomore year but that was not exactly what one would call “fun” so we decided to save the friendship and not live together anymore. (I’m kind of hard to live with. haha) We’re both really busy during the school year so we don’t see much out of one another, but we are always there for the other when shit gets rough. It’s nice to just have a friend I can go to at all hours of the night no matter what.

We actually aren’t taking a honeymoon. Not a traditional one anyway. We have talked about going on a cruise from Seattle to Alaska in August (5 months after the wedding) as a honeymoon/graduation present to me but I’m not positive the money will be there to do so. :/

The plan for after the wedding is to go to my aunt’s cabin on lake Wedowee in Alabama that night and spend the weekend there “minimooning”. Then I’m hoping he’ll take an extra week after the wedding to come stay with me (I’ll have classes/clinicals) before he goes back home. But we’ll see. Depends on how much leave he has and all that jazz.

Our favors are going to be hand canned jars of homemade jam. Mom is doing plum and muscadine and my nana is doing grape. They are the tiny little 4 oz jars and they are ADORABLE! I cannot wait to see them finished and all pretty!

30 Day Wedding Challenge: Day 22 - Cake topper

Our top tier of our nontraditional wedding cake will have cute little figurines of Wall-E & Eve from the movie. :)

Our first date consisted of Wall-E in theaters, crappy mall food court Chinese, and then Yoohoo’s at the lake while ducks and geese chased me around. Then we let the seats down in his car and sat in the trunk for hours talking about nothing and yet everything.

:) That’s when I knew he was something special…

30 Day Wedding Challenge: Day 21 - Wedding cake

Here’s what I can tell you:

We will have a small top tier of actual wedding cake. But we’ve decided to do cupcakes for the wedding cake. So what this means is the top tier will be a little cake, the rest of the tiers will be cupcakes.

The groom’s cake will be a sheet cake with the MMIII missile on it. This seemed less phallic to me so that was our compromise.

We are also doing apple and pecan pies. Because I freakin wanted pies! :)

30 Day Wedding Challenge: Day 19 - Veil & Other Brides Accessories

Veil:
Hand-done. Which is becoming quite the pain in the ass. I bought the veil already cut and put together from Hobby Lobby. It was a plain ivory finger-tip veil with blusher. I am adding beading along the blusher’s edge (mostly to give it some weight so it’s not blowing into my eyeballs during the whole damn ceremony) and I deconstructed the bolero jacket that came with my dress to use in my veil. Basically I’m taking the appliques off the jacket and hand stitching them onto the veil. I’m about 1/8 of the way done and I really want to just spend the $150+ on a veil instead of having to worry with it. But I’m stubborn and it’ll be really pretty when I actually finish it. So bluh.

Accessories:
I have already posted a photo of my necklace (the anatomical heart). As for earrings, it depends on whether or not I wear my hair down like I want or up like I know it will behave better. My only other accessories will be a white corset (because I’m not at all prudish and I actually love the way I look/feel in them! (before anyone says “that’s going to be so uncomfortable)), my garters (which are handmade and I’m not entirely sure I love them yet…pictures when I do), and whatever shiny I put in my hair or on my veil’s attachment. :) (It’s tradition in my family to wed sans panties.)

Baked beans (from Mike & Ed’s or homemade, depending entirely on cost)
Slaw
Chicken nuggets for my picky sister (and the children)
Sweet tea, water, lemonade (looking forward to some Arnold Palmers!)

Dessert:

Cake (of course!) Most likely red velvet, white, and chocolate.
Apple and Pecan pies (because I wanted pies over cake anyway)
Possibly homemade banana pudding (B requested it the other night but I think he was half joking)

So yeah, nom and stuff. :)

Right now the party will walk to Ólafur Arnalds – Ljósi›.

I will be walking to Bella’s Lullaby - The Taliesin Orchestra.

Both are gorgeous songs and the original plan had been to only use Ljósi› but it doesn’t have a very good “this is the bride’s time to come down the aisle now” part. :/ We may still go with that plan and cut the lullaby out. *shrug* Still got lots of time for that decision. Either way Ljósi› will definitely be used.

30 Day Wedding Challenge: Day 16 - Who is going to officiate your marriage?

We don’t know yet. :/ There is a judge back home that would probably do it if I’d just go ask him. He played piano for us when I did theatre in high school and he got me out of a speeding ticket and a wreck ticket. (So I’d say I’m on the like list. haha) But this is one of those things I really REALLY don’t want to do alone (like picking wedding cake flavors) but B’s not here and won’t be until Oct (and then for only a few days) so it’s something I guess I’ll have to drag a MOH along to do. :/

If not him then we’re going to do something even I don’t want to do (and B’s incredibly against it). We’re going to ask my mom’s pastor. :/ He’s the only other option.

So, to answer this question…who knows?!
